# Thirteen Lands

The Thirteen Lands are an archipelago of Isles in the[ Endless Ocean](/project-pathfinders/pathlore/endless-ocean.md). Forged five centuries ago by the **Confluence of Isles**, this great landmass is home to a wide variety of human cultures and civilizations. It is the birthplace of the five factions sending Pathfinders to explore the [New World](/project-pathfinders/pathlore/the-new-world.md).

## The Confluence

The Thirteen Lands were formed five centuries ago, when a terrible storm sent thirteen Isles on a collision course towards each other. By sheer happenstance, they were welded together by interlocking rocks and vines, becoming one interwoven landmass. This unprecedented event, called the **Confluence of Isles**, was a time of both terrible upheaval and explosive cultural exchange.

The Confluence effectively remade human societies in the Thirteen Lands. The old world was destroyed by climate change, famine, and war. From the ruins, warlords created new kingdoms: Domenica, Almoria, Panethria, Matomai. These would eventually become the cultural bedrock of the modern world.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://project-pathfinders.gitbook.io/project-pathfinders/pathlore/thirteen-lands.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
